Creekside Connectivity

A pop up showcasing artwork created at Day on the Creek 2026

The Allied Arts Council of Pincher Creek has been proud to be a part of the annual Day on the Creek celebrations for many years. Day on the Creek is a unique outdoor learning experience where over 800 students, teachers, parents, and the general public learn about the environment and human history along Pincher Creek and explore the importance of watershed stewardship. Day on the Creek is hosted by the Waterton Biosphere Reserve Association along with the Town of Pincher Creek.

This year, the UN published a report detailing how globally we have moved from a state of water crisis to water bankruptcy. With this in mind, now more than ever we believe it is important to connect kids to our hydrological systems, fostering a deep connection, care, and appreciation for water. With the help of some great volunteers and our kids program instructor, local grade one students created art in the outdoors focused on their connections to water.

This year during Ocean Week we will have some of their works of art on display at the Lebel from June 3rd until June 10th. We'll also have these works of art here on our website until June 24th.

“Ocean Week Canada is an annual national celebration of ocean events, learning, and engagement held during the week of World Ocean Day (June 8). Through these events and learning activities, we recognize the important role the ocean plays in our everyday lives and how local waterways connect us all with the ocean.”
