Intro to Pottery

This six week pottery workshop will share the fundamentals of pottery, learn basic hand building and wheel throwing techniques, starting from a ball of clay to glazing your pieces!

Slow Stitch- A Celebration of Process with artist and Therapeutic Art Practitioner Carla Beres

Engage in simple, organic, freehand stitching techniques to cultivate a calm and mindful creative experience. Thoughtfully responding to the inspirations of our own experiences, explore the therapeutic benefits of slow movement while creating unique textile pieces. Each participant will receive a kit containing essential materials to continue and complete their project at home. The workshop welcomes individuals of all skill levels.

Mixed Media Creative Art Journaling with artist and Therapeutic Art Practitioner Carla Beres

Using a variety of techniques participants will explore mark making and layering of mixed media to create unique and expressive art journal pages. The session aims to provide a foundation for developing a sustainable creative practice, encouraging each participant to identify and cultivate their individual artistic style.
Guided instruction will integrate approaches that highlight the therapeutic benefits of the creative process and is designed to be accessible to both artists and those without previous experience. Emphasis will be placed on the creative journey rather than the outcome. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will compile their completed pages into a personalized journal, with the option to continue expanding their work beyond the session.

Short Story Writing for Adults with Michelle Spencer

This class is designed for beginner to intermediate writers who want to learn about short story elements and improve their writing skills. The goal of the class will be to complete and revise a short story by the end of the six weeks.
No formal writing experience is necessary but a willingness to share your writing and provide feedback to peers is valuable.

The Creatives Meetup

The Creatives Meetup is a FREE, weekly open studio on Wednesdays at The Lebel.
Easels, tables and chairs are provided- you bring the rest!
The Allied Arts Council is opening up its third floor meeting space on Wednesday afternoons for artists to meet up and work together, chat, collaborate or just hang out and make connections.
Started in the fall of 2022 by Heidi Bengry, this Wednesday artist meetup is a place where artists can come work in a space together for a few hours with no instruction provided. This is a great opportunity to meet up and chat with other creatives in your community, get advice, critiques or work on your own with some company. Bring your supplies, some inspiration and your latest works!
*Individuals 18 and under interested in participating in The Creatives Meetup must be accompanied by an adult. *
WORKSHOPS AND CLASSES RETURN POLICY
The AAC offers our workshops on a cost recovery basis, meaning that our classes require a minimum number of participants to run. Should a scheduled workshop be unable to run due to low registration or cancellation by our organization refunds will be provided. Otherwise course fees are non-refundable.
Refunds for Eventbrite registrations will be processed directly through the Eventbrite platform. Registrations made directly with the AAC will be provided by cheque during the next scheduled cheque run.
