The Old Man Rose Society was formed in 2006 when a group of enthusiastic gardeners and rose growers gathered to share their knowledge and love of growing roses. The Society's aim was to encourage the culture of roses in southwestern Alberta.

In 2009, the idea of creating a formal rose garden for public enjoyment was proposed. The Town of Pincher Creek leased the lawn on the east side of the Lebel Mansion to the Society for the purpose.

Over the next 4 years, the project was developed in phases until completion. Now the Lebel Rose Garden graces the property with circular beds and benches that invite you to wander or sit and enjoy the colour and fragrance of the over 55 roses that thrive there.

The Garden is carefully tended by the Society, which gratefully acknowledge the many hours of volunteer work, donations and support of the community.
