Holding Space for Kids- Using Art to Explore The New Normal

The Pincher Creek Allied Arts Council is excited to announce a new, free art program aimed at helping the children of our community adjust and adapt to their new normal.

This September some children will be headed back to school and into a classroom setting very different than the one they left in March. Others will be staying at home and adjusting to a new family dynamic as their parents become their teachers.

The Holding Space program is aimed at helping kids regain confidence and adapt to their new normal in a safe, enjoyable and creative way. With the guidance of Art Therapist Bonnie J. Martin kids will have the opportunity to express what they're feeling through art.

Be it anxiety from being separated from home, stress from having to remain socially distanced from the peers, or new fears and worries due to having to adjust to a new routine these sessions will help kids deal with all the changes in their lives.

The Allied Arts Council will be hosting free workshops starting in September, October and November. These three week one hour long group workshops will be for small groups of kids Ages Four to Six on Tuesdays, Ages Seven and Eight on Wednesdays and Ages nine to twelve on Thursdays. Each of these groups are after school from 3:45-4:45pm.

Select the month of your choice, your childs age group and register them for Holding Space for Kids using the links below.

We also know that some children and families may prefer individual, private sessions. Bonnie Martin will be available for free individual or family sessions this fall. Please feel free to call us at 403-627-5272 or email lebel.programs@gmail.com for more information.
